The honest version
What ceramic tint actually does (and doesn't)
Ceramic window film uses non-metallic particles that reject infrared heat, the part of sunlight you feel on your arm, while letting you choose how dark the glass looks. Because it isn't metal, it doesn't interfere with phone, GPS or key-fob signals.
It does
- Cut the heat coming through the glass
- Block most UV, which fades dashboards and seats
- Reduce glare from the sun and headlights
- Add privacy and a clean, finished look
It doesn't
- Make an illegal shade legal: Florida limits still apply
- Stop break-ins (that's security film, a different product)
- Fix chipped or cracked glass
- Need to be dark to work: lighter ceramic still blocks heat

Straight talk
Who it's for, and who should skip it
Good fit
- Anyone parking outside in the Florida sun
- Black or dark interiors that get too hot to touch
- SUVs and trucks with factory privacy glass in back and clear fronts
- Kids, pets or anyone sensitive to UV in the back seat
Probably skip it (or go light)
- You want limo-dark fronts: not legal in Florida, and we won't install it
- You do a lot of night driving and dislike any darkening: choose a light shade
- Your glass already has film you like: we only re-tint failing film
Shade guide
How dark can you go?
VLT is the percentage of visible light the window lets through. Lower number, darker glass. Measured on the glass and film together.
| Window | Sedans & coupes | SUVs, trucks & vans |
|---|---|---|
| Windshield | Non-reflective strip above the AS-1 line only | |
| Front side windows | At least 28% VLT, reflectance no more than 25% | |
| Rear side windows | At least 15% VLT | At least 6% VLT |
| Back window | At least 15% VLT | At least 6% VLT |
Summary of Fla. Stat. §§ 316.2952–316.2954. A 6% VLT film is legal only on qualifying multipurpose vehicles, and only where the glass and film together still measure at least 6%. Full guide and sources →

FAQ
Common questions
How much does window tint cost?
Full ceramic tint (every side window plus the rear glass) starts at $399 for coupes, $449 for sedans and $499 for SUVs and trucks. Front two windows are $249, or $320 with a windshield strip. A windshield strip on its own is $100, a sunroof is $75 and windshield film is $199–$300. Add a ceramic coating and save 10%.
What tint percentage is legal in Florida?
Front side windows must let in at least 28% of light. Rear side windows and the back glass can go to 15% on cars, or 6% on SUVs, trucks and vans. See the Florida tint law guide.
Can you tint the windshield in Florida?
Florida allows non-reflective film on the windshield only above the AS-1 line, the strip along the top ($100). Full-windshield film isn't covered by that rule, so ask us what applies to your vehicle before you get a quote.
Is ceramic tint worth the extra money over regular tint?
If heat is your main complaint, usually yes. Ceramic film is built to reject infrared heat, so even a lighter, legal shade keeps the cabin noticeably cooler than a basic dyed film at the same darkness.
When can I roll my windows down, and when can I wash the car?
Film needs a few days to cure. We'll give you exact timing at pickup: leave the windows up and skip washing the inside of the glass until then. Washing the outside of the car is fine.
Will tint affect my visibility at night?
Any tint cuts some light. Legal shades on the front side windows (28% or lighter) keep night visibility reasonable for most drivers. If you drive a lot at night, we'll show you lighter ceramic options that still block heat.
Can you tint my sunroof or panoramic roof?
Yes. A standard sunroof is $75. Panoramic roofs are quoted by size.
I have bubbling or purple tint from another shop. Can you remove it?
Yes. We remove the old film and the adhesive, clean the glass and re-tint. Removal is quoted per vehicle; text us a photo for a quick number.
Is the rear window done in one piece?
On most cars, yes: the rear glass film is heat-shrunk to the curve of the window and installed as one piece. A few vehicles with split or unusual rear glass need more than one.
Do you tint in Nokomis, Osprey, North Port and Englewood?
Yes. All car tint is done indoors in our Venice shop (Bays 95 & 96, 257 Seaboard Ave, Venice FL 34285), and we see drivers from Nokomis and Osprey, North Port, Englewood and Sarasota. Open Saturdays, 9am–2pm or by appointment.
